A visit to Round Rock

Ava and I took a trip up to Round Rock yesterday to visit my college friend Becky, and her kids, Lillian and Andrew. We had a good time. We met them to eat and then headed over to her house for some playtime. It was lots of fun, and Becky and I had some time to visit while the kids were playing and napping.

Here is a picture of the girls in '07. Lillian was about 7 months and Ava had just turned 1. They sure have grown up!

Butler Park

Today we took the kids to Butler Park to play in the water and mostly just to get out of the house. We had fun. Ava seemed to like the shallow little pools and wasn't too sure about the water spraying up at her at first, but eventually really got into it. Adam just hung out in the shade with one of us.

What a funny girl

My mom (aka Nunny) went to Chicago to visit, and she and Aunt Nikki bought the kids several cute outfits. Ava decided that she really liked this one outfit and did not want to take it off. I don't blame her, it is really cute! Rolando finally got her to change into her pajamas somehow.

Then she got some flip flops from Cabela's the next day and refused to take them off. I thought that I had won by taking them and putting them beside her dresser and telling her that she could put them on as soon as she got up in the morning. Not so much. I always check on the kids before we go to sleep. I walked into her room to find her, yes asleep, but with her flip flops on. This little girl got out of bed just to put those shoes on and went to sleep. So, of course, I took a picture and took them off, put them beside her dresser again, and went to bed. 5 am: Adam wakes up to eat. I feed him and put him back to sleep and then check on Ava. What do you know...the darn flip flops were right beside her on her pillow. I couldn't help but laugh. She is so funny and hard headed. I tell you, when she has her mind set on something, she makes it happen, or at least tries. So, it's a game now. Where can I put these shoes so she won't get them? I take them and put them in her dresser door where we keep most of her shoes. Ha, ha, ha...I'm sure she won't get them now! WRONG...at 8am she comes into our room wearing those flip flops. I couldn't believe it. She's a funny little girl.

4th of July and the 10lb nap

So, yesterday was the 4th of July and we were busy all day. We went to a birthday party. My friend Jaime's son, Jaxon, turned 2 and had his party at Goin' Bananas. Ava had a great time again. That place is so much fun. She took a nap when we got home and then we went next door to our neighbors house for dinner. It was a lot of fun. All the kids looked so cute in their patriotic outfits.

Nonno came over to go see the fireworks with us at Auditorium Shores. He and Ava got into a conversation about naps. Nonno asked, "Ava, did you take a nap today?" Ava said,"Yes." Nonno asked, "Did you take a long nap?" Ava said," Um, yeah, like 10 pounds." Nonno said,"Wow, you took a 10 pound nap?" She said, " Yep." She was so serious about it. She says the funniest things.

So, we headed down to Auditorium Shores and waited. Once the fireworks started Adam was interested and Ava was not. She was too busy watching the people sitting next to us. Oh well. It was a good show and definitely not as hot as we expected it to be.
